The Governors

The role of the Governing Body

The Governing Body plays a central role in the leadership and management of our school by working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in:

The Governing Body of Lower Farm Primary School consists of 10 governors, and was reconstituted on 6 June 2014. There are 4 Parent Governors, 1 Local Authority Governor; 1 Staff Governor; the Head Teacher, and 3 Co-opted Governors.

In addition to the main Governing Body which meets 4 times per year (once per term to deal with scheduled business, and once a year to consider in detail the data for progress and achievement) there are two main committees: the Curriculum Committee, and the Finance, Premises, Pay and Personnel Committee, both of which meet once per term. Occasionally, an additional sub-committee will be formed to consider additional business (e.g., a Buildings Sub-Committee was established in 2015/16 to consider a new extension).

There is an additional meeting of the Head Teacher's Review Committee which meets annually.

Other Committees (such as Data, Staffing and Pupil Discipline) are called whenever needed.
